Mood:
Throughout high school, I had mild acne on my face and back. I went through college with some acne problems but nothing dramatic. The year I graduated from college and started my master's degree I began to break out dramaticly. My self-confidence went downhill along with evertything else. I am covered with acne and scars. I can't even think of going out in public without make up on. I hate daylight. I absolutely HATE daylight! It shows all the flaws. I don't want to go out to public, hang out with people or go to class. I stay up at night and sleep during the day. And that has become a lifestyle by now. Pretty scrary. So far I have tried everything to win this battle. But nothing worked. Benzoyl peroxide, proactive, antibiotics blah blah blah. Nothing worked. I battled so much that now I think my skin had developed some kind of resistance against benzoyl peroxide and all that other crap. Today I got my first prescription for Roaccutane. Roaccutane is the same accutane. Accutane is the name used in the USA and Roaccutane is the name used in Europe. But they have the same actuve ingredient: isotretinoin. I will not start my treatment until after the end of this month. But the day I take my first pill, I will come back update this journal. I will also upload pictures of my face. I'm not a doctor or anything. I got my inspiration from the other accutane journals on the web. Most of the ones I've read are successful ones. But I am fully aware that everybody's skin is different (as characteristic as your fingerprint!) and there's a chance that this treatment might not work. I have read and understood all the side effects and ran extensive research on the drug before I made my decision about this drug. I think that's something everybody has to do, if they're considering Accutane/Roaccutane. So yeah.. that's all for now. I'm going up to the mountains next week and I'm gonna spend an entire week snowboarding. Hopefully I won't have to deal with too many people who pity me and ask me what happened to my face. See you next week!
